Heel offloading with access for inspection
Foot Protector PLUS supports the lower leg and keeps the heel clear while the legs are elevated. Its magnetic fastening helps hold the device in place and allows access for heel inspection. Choose Small or Standard by measurement and fit; each selection is a pair with one small pump.
Choosing and fitting your support
Measure heel to the midpoint at the back of the knee with the person seated. PLUS also requires the calf-circumference check shown in the IFU: maximum 33 cm, measured 16 cm above the base of the heel. Assess falls risk and the person’s ability to remove the device. It is not suitable for mobile but confused patients.
| Size | Knee-to-heel measurement |
|---|---|
| Small | 45–50 cm |
| Standard | 49–55 cm |

Repose technology in daily use
Manual inflation with Smart Valve
The correct Repose pump sets the intended inflation pressure. Inflate with the user off the product. Use the pump specified for the supplied configuration.

Manufacturer demonstration. The guide covers both Foot Protector and Foot Protector PLUS. Use the PLUS section and Standard fit guidance; this listing supplies a pair and one Small Pump. Follow the current product-specific Instructions for Use.
Daily checks and cleaning
Check inflation with the manufacturer’s daily squeeze check and inspect positioning and skin regularly. Reconnect the correct pump and top up within a maximum of 14 days; the daily check still applies between top-ups. Always inflate and top up with the person off the product.
Clean visible contamination with detergent, water and a non-abrasive cloth. In the absence of visible contamination, follow the manufacturer’s weekly cleaning guidance and local infection-control policy. Dry thoroughly. Do not machine wash, immerse or sterilise the inflatable support, and keep liquid out of the valve. Removable PU covers have separate washing instructions.
Clinical use and precautions
Use only with the legs elevated. Remove the protectors before walking. Do not use with the feet directly on the floor.
Magnetic fastenings: keep at least 150 mm from active devices such as pacemakers. The magnets contain nickel; exercise caution with known nickel allergy.
Keep the valve away from skin and avoid direct contact with open wounds or compromised skin. Seek clinical advice immediately if skin condition changes. Keep away from heat and sharp objects. The valve contains a metal spring: do not use near MRI equipment. Read the complete IFU before use.
Use as part of an assessed pressure-care plan, alongside appropriate skin checks, repositioning and other care. The support does not replace those measures.
Clinical information
Frontier’s PLUS page includes evidence about the original Foot Protector and the wider Repose range. These studies are relevant background for heel offloading, but do not separately establish the effects of the PLUS magnetic fastening or every current size.
Clinical assessment, skin inspection, repositioning and the wider care plan remain essential. Use the current product instructions for indications, precautions and maintenance; older study protocols are not instructions for present-day use.
